ATASDA runs challenges for members from time to time. They might be a Round Robin, a topic to explore between meetings, a collaborative project or a themed project with a specific purpose. Sometimes they result in a display or exhibition. Challenges may be for the individual to work alone or a group of several working together.
Challenges create a sense of community by members working with or alongside other members, sharing the joy of making. Often a challenge brings people out of their comfort zone to try something different.
Current Challenge from the Queensland Branch
Artists Village National Challenge
We are keen for you to help us build an artists’village , this is an occasion to paint your house any colour you want – even pink ! Use paper, altered fabric, clay, metal, fabric paper, or found collage items to make your very own house. Try painting stencilling, journaling, sketching or doodling the details.
Miniature houses are classical decorative items and are often inspired by traditional architectural elements. Meanwhile, tribal and folk-inspired patterns and prints have been trending strongly since 2009.
These miniature houses are so much fun to make, and the simple white geometric shapes are to be enhanced by your own whimsical inspired handmade elements !
We plan to create an Artist Village of houses of our individual designs and materials. You can abandon reality and use the materials and colours you love to work with, no restrictions other than the size.
Included is the pattern which is the common element for all entries, you can make as many as you like‼️
NSW, QLD & VIC are all taking part and will be displaying results at their own venues. QLD will display actual houses at the 2024 AGM.
