Botanical Printing with the Heatpress - Karen Ridley
Learn and explore how to use a Heatpress for Botanical Printing. In just 4 minutes you can have an amazing botanical print on papers and fabrics that are truly beautiful. And with the correct use of mordants, these images are permanent and can be used in art pieces and be further creatively embellished.
With the Heatpress and the correct mordants for cellulose fibers-paper and fabrics) we will make a botanical print that is not only quick but permanent on these substrates.
Imagine having a beautiful eucalyptus or Australian native image that you can further embellish into your own original artwork. Or have a beautiful Salvia and Geranium image on fabric that you can later stitch into. These are just some of the possibilities with Botanical Heatpress.
In this workshop you will learn:
- how to use a Heatpress,
- discuss Mordants for cellulose and protein fibers,
- look at common plants we can use in the Heatpress
- Learn the process for doing Botanical Heatpress printing.
- look at design and using carrier products to embellish your design
Participants will take home a collection of images both on paper and fabric they can further embellish and explore creative options with.
Suits Beginners and Intermediate levels.
